Tan Care
- Shower, exfoliate and do any shaving at least 6 hours before your tanning session. Use baking soda or scrub, and an exfoliating mitt or wash rag. Exfoliate last in the shower. This will avoid residue on your body from conditioners, soaps, moisturizing strips on razor, etc. Make sure to exfoliate the neck area well. Exfoliating well will help your tan last longer and fade evenly.
- Moisturize the skin and hydrate by drinking plenty of water the week leading up to your tan.
- If you have a previous spray tan or sunless tanner on, please remove all traces of it before your appointment or your tan will fade unevenly. We sell tan remover, or call us for tips on home products.
- No Dove soaps or Dove body washes, they leave a film on the skin.
- Schedule any manis, pedis, waxing or lash appointments before your spray tan. If they are close to your tan appointment, make sure there is no residue on your skin from the services or the tan may not take well in the area.
- Do not apply lotions, oils, perfumes, makeups or deodorants before your spray tan. Come with skin clean and dry. No showers within 2 hours of tanning. We have face wipes to remove makeup or deodorant if needed.
- Females, you may tan however you like...topless, nude, swimsuit, undergarments. If you are comfortable, we are comfortable! Keep in mind the different clothing you may be wearing during the life of your tan (wedding dress, swimsuit etc) so you do not have tan lines where not desired. We have disposable thongs and bras if needed. MEN must wear boxers, shorts or briefs. Tanning solution will wash out of most materials if your garments are washed promptly, but we are not responsible for stains.
- Wear or bring dark, loose clothing and flip flops for after. Bring an umbrella, long sleeves, pants and loose, closed toed shoes if there’s a chance of rain!
- If you have leather seats or light colored seats and are wearing shorts, bring a towel to sit on.
- Do not get wet or rinse until the time specified (1-4 hours for rapid. 8-12 for classic). If you accidentally get wet, text pics to me asap so I can let you know if you need to rinse sooner or if it will be fine. If you are sleeping in your tan, wear loose, long pants and long sleeve shirt to avoid skin to skin contact/transfer and do not sleep on your hands.
- Avoid sweating or exercise until rinsing.
- Your first shower should be a rinse only, no soap. Rinse until all of the water runs clear. Guide all bronzer of with your hands in circular motions. It is normal for most of the color to rinse off with your shower with a rapid, this is just the bronzer/color guide. Your actual tan will develop in 12 hours and continue to darken over the next 24. Pat dry after all showers, no rubbing. Your first soap shower should be at 24 hours,
- Your tan should last 7-10 days with proper before and after care. Everyone's skin is different and this also depends on your skin cell turnover rate.
- Use mild and gentle body washes to prolong your tan. Harsh body washes can start to turn your tan brassy and fade it fast. We sell a tan safe body wash.
- Wait 24 hours to shave if possible and the less shaving the better throughout your tan.
- Moisturize twice a day starting after your soap shower. For best results, use a tan extender lotion starting at 48 hours.
- Salt water, chlorine, long bathing, saunas and heavy exercise may fade your tan faster.
- Once your tan starts fading, soak in a hot bath and exfoliate it off with tan remover, scrub, baking soda, etc and a rough washcloth.
- Your tan should not smell except for the first night while developing. There are exceptions, such as hormone imbalance, thyroid issues, excessive sweating, etc.
